(Muscle Shoals, AL) Today, Representative Andrew Sorrell announced he has more than doubled the previous fundraising record for State Auditor.

“The response to my campaign has been overwhelming. We were humbled to receive almost 40% of the vote in the Republican Primary on May 24 th , and we look forward to a successful completion of this race tomorrow in the Runoff elections. Now, I am pleased to announce we have more than doubled the previous fundraising record for State Auditor by receiving $282,000 in contributions since we launched this campaign a year ago. The previous record was $133,000. Over 95% of the money has come from individuals and businesses, not Montgomery special interest groups and PACs.”

Sorrell is a 36-year-old entrepreneur and State Representative from Colbert County. He grew up in Muscle Shoals and attended Webster Elementary School, McBride Middle School, and Muscle Shoals High School, graduating in 2004. Sorrell completed his 4-year Business Management degree at the University of North Alabama (UNA) in less than 2 years, finishing in July 2006.

Sorrell started his first business in his parents’ porch at age 16 with his brother, Matthew. In 2010, the business expanded to open a brick-and-mortar store. Infinity College Textbooks has now sold over 800,000 college textbooks on the Internet. He sold it one year ago. His second business, Gold, Guns, and Guitars, Inc. opened in April 2015 and has 8 employees. This upscale pawnshop now has locations in both Florence and Huntsville. Early in 2021, Sorrell also founded Fast Track Investments, Inc., a commercial real estate and investment company.

“As a strong fiscal conservative in the State House of Representatives, I think my talents and interests align perfectly with the duties of the State Auditor, “ Sorrell said. “Keeping track of $1.7 billion worth of state property spread out over 176 state agencies is an important task. I want to make sure that every penny of property belonging to the citizens of Alabama is properly accounted for. My political experience in the legislature and my professional background as an entrepreneur have perfectly prepared me to perform the duties of this important position.”

In the legislature, Sorrell has consistently voted against higher taxes, borrowing money, and fee increases. The Alabama Policy Institute awarded him the 2020 Conservative Policy Warrior Award and said that “Sorrell has made a name for himself as a fiscal conservative who is not afraid to stand alone on his principles.” The Club for Growth Foundation rated Sorrell #1 in the State House on the Alabama State Economic Scorecard, measuring 13 pro-growth votes for the 2020 legislative year.

Also in 2020, Sorrell was elected by his fellow 50 delegates as Chairman of the Trump Delegation to the 2020 Republican National Convention. In this position, he was responsible for casting the votes for Alabama’s delegation for Donald Trump on national television. “Donald Trump was a conservative, pro-growth, and pro-America President, and it was an honor to represent his Alabama supporters at the Convention in Charlotte, NC last year,” Sorrell added.

“I believe Alabama needs someone with a proven track record of concern for taxpayer money serving in the Auditor’s position,” Sorrell concluded. “I believe that my conservative political philosophy and attention to detail will help me serve the citizens of Alabama well as their next State Auditor.”

Sorrell resides in Muscle Shoals with his wife, Hannah and daughter, Liberty. Hannah works as real estate agent in the Shoals area.

The runoff election will be held June 21st , 2022.
