Mary Charles Davis Member Spotlight (Submitted by Emily Johnston)

Mary Charles Davis, a Junior at Cullman High School, was named to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s North All-Star team earlier last week.

The young lady Bearcat was excited for the opportunity to be able to represent Cullman High School in July, saying, “I am so thankful for all the opportunities and experiences I have had to get me to where I am. “

Davis is one of ten seniors selected to represent the north half of Alabama in the annual north versus south matchup.

“The all-star golf selections are an outstanding group of golfers who have dedicated themselves to golf,” said Dean. “We expect the competition at this year’s North-South All-Star competition to be as strong as ever.”

Mary Charles, who has played for thirteen years now, started at the age of four when her dad got her interested in playing golf. Now that she has wrapped up her fifth high school season, she will be hitting the road playing in tournaments sanctioned by the Alabama Golf Association and the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.

She will be playing in the AHSAA all-star game this July and working at a summer internship in southeast Georgia at St. Simmons Island with PGA professional Ray Cutright.

Jonathan Hayes, coach at Cullman High School, said, “I couldn’t be more proud of these two young people [also Ian Willoughby]! Outside of their family, I have been their biggest fan, and I got to be their golf coach! Watching them grow into young adults and fantastic golfers have been a privilege and honor. And I get to watch and coach them one more time at the AHSAA North/South All-Star golf tournament as I’ve been honored and selected as one of two Coaches for the North Boys All-Stars. “
