The Cullman Christian Lions JV Girls Basketball Team coached by Christina Watson are final four bound after a fantastic season. Watson is in her first year with the Lady Lions after previously coaching at Hanceville High School for six years then moving to Cullman High School for a year.

Some people would say it’s tough to transition from a big program to a small Christian school, but it was a breeze for Watson. She loves the sport and wants to see kids grow and enjoy basketball as much as she has over the years. “Dr. Swindall offered me a job at Cullman Christian to be a physical education teacher. I accepted the position and took on the role of the ladies basketball coach. When I met the girls for the first time, it was a breath of fresh air. I had girls eager to learn and want to improve. It has been really fun coaching these ladies.” said Watson.

The Junior Varsity Lady Lions, led by 7th grader Kaylee Johnson will travel to Oxford this Friday to take on either Abdullah or First Assembly with the hopes of winning and advancing to the State Championship. Statistically, the Lady Lions are even across the board. Kaylee Johnson (7th), Elisabeth Decicco (8th), Gracie Stidham (7th), Brooklyn Hammock (7th), Piper Coots (7th), and Zoe Powell (8th) all bring talent to the roster while playing as a team.

The ladies from Cullman Christian may be a small school, but they have the fight of a Lion. Traveling to Oxford to play in the final four is all business, but at the end of the day, these girls play for a purpose, and that is to glorify God. Cullman Daily wishes the Lady Lions the best of luck and congratulates them on an outstanding season.
