From the regular season to the Cullman County Tournament Good Hope dominated on their way to the County Championship. The Lady Raiders putting it away right out of the gate on their way to a 73-39 win.
In the opening period, and throughout the night, Good Hope put on a three point shooting clinic. They knocked down five 3’s in the opening period alone on their way to a 23-10 lead. Desire Odachoski, who hit a three to end the first, was only getting started. She ten straight in the second quarter, finishing with 16 on the night.
It wasn’t just Odachoski that was contributing however. The Lady Raiders had everyone rolling throughout as they rolled in the second half on their way to a 73-39 win, claiming their the Cullman County Championship. Bailey Tetro finished with 20 points, Ivey Mattox added another 10, and a total of 8 different Lady Raider scored 4 or more.
West Point’s Ryleigh Jones refused to give up throughout, totaling 17 points on the night. Braelee Quinn finished with 7 of her own. West Point will now turn their eyes to the area tournament, where they will be hosting as the No. 1 seed in 5A Area 15.
Good Hope head coach Justin Aby had this to say on his teams big win, “We set goals at the beginning of the year and one of them is to win county. Anything you do in the regular season means nothing if you don’t win it all. I’m proud of the girls for taking care of business.”
The momentum is in full force for Good Hope as they turn their eyes towards the post season. Coach Aby added, “It really boils down to playing your best basketball at the end of the season and that’s exactly what we are doing. This win gives us a huge confidence boost to finish the season.”
Good Hope has sealed the No 1 Seed in 4A Area 11 and will look to make a deep run with one goal in mind, a 4A state championship.
