The Shaddix Company was founded in 1970 by Tommy and Mitchelene Shaddix and has been a faith-based company since day one. As a third-generation company here in Cullman, the Shaddix Company is a precast concrete manufacturing facility. Unfortunately, in 2015, co-founder Tommy Shaddix passed away, but it would not stop his vision from being carried on by the current leadership team.
Mitchelene continues to oversee the day-to-day operations with her son Dewayne Shaddix (Chief Executive Office), Tracey Shaddix (Chief Administrative Officer), and their son Isaac Shaddix (Operation Manager). Any time a family opens a new business, there will undoubtedly be struggles from time to time, and the Shaddix company is no different. Still, by the grace of God, they have been able to expand from a small business in the front yard of Tommy and Mitchelene’s home in Trimble, AL, in 1970 to a twenty-two-acre,15,000 square foot production facility in South Vinemont. In addition to the beautiful facility, the Shaddix Company has a state-of-the-art planetary batch plant system, allowing the company to produce a more homogeneous concrete mix with greater output, resulting in more efficiency.
The Shaddix Company expansion project allowed growth with the production facility and created more jobs for the Cullman community by increasing jobs by 34% and currently employing 28 people.
“The Shaddix Company is a faith-based company grounded in our beliefs that God will always be with us wherever we go, and He has been faithful through the journey of this expansion. Therefore, our mission statement begins like this: Acknowledging God as Owner, President, and CEO of our company while conducting business with a strict, uncompromising moral and ethical code of conduct. We believe this is the foundation of our success,” said Dewayne. “Our success also comes from those that we surround ourselves with. We are thankful for our management team and each employee that has a part in our daily operations.”
Cullman Economic Development Director, Dale Greer, began the ribbon cutting by welcoming everyone and asking Pastor Scott Session to pray over the facility. Then, Dewayne Shaddix gave his opening remarks and thanked the crowd for coming out and supporting the business. In attendance for today’s ribbon-cutting was Vinemont’s Mayor Reggie Dodson, Vinemont’s Council members, Chris Thompson, Sonya Adams, Charlotte Cosper, Bonnie Goodwin, Sonya Copeland, Public Works Director Mike Graves, Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser, representing Congressman Aderholt was Jennifer Taylor, Cullman County Chairman Jeff Clemons, Cullman County Commissioners Kerry Watson and Garry Marchman, Cullman County Economic Development Director Bradley Williams, and a host of friends and family throughout the Cullman community.
Congratulations to the Shaddix family, and thank you for being a God-driven company here in Cullman, Alabama.
