Decatur, AL — Decatur Police are investigating after they say a body was discovered this morning in a ditch off of Gordon Terry parkway (Alabama Highway 24). East bound lanes of Gordon Terry Pkwy were closed for hours this morning and early afternoon as they investigated.
About 5 hours earlier, around 1:54 AM, police responded to a crash near Gordon Terry Parkway & McEntire Ln, where a driver had left the roadway and crashed into a guardrail. It was determined that the driver, who’s name has not been released had been driving under the influence. Around 7:04 AM, officers were dispatched to a report of a body in a ditch in the 2500 block of Gordon Terry pkwy.
According to a Decatur Police Spokesperson, it appears the person was struck by a vehicle. It is unclear if the 2 scenes are connected, however, Decatur Police traffic Homicide units continue to investigate.
The name of the deceased person has not been released.
