Carlee Loyd graduated from Fairview High School in 2017. She went on to become a cheerleader at the University of Montevallo, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a double concentration in Multimedia Journalism and Broadcast Production. Carlee cheered all four years at Montevallo and was a member of the Tau Kappa chapter of the Chi Omega sorority, where she served as the Philanthropy Chair Assistant and the Director of Career and Personal Development. In addition, she worked with the University of Montevallo athletic department making gameday programs, taking photos, and creating and editing videos for the athletic social media platforms. One of the highlights of college was when she became an anchor/reporter/producer for Montevallo’s student-run newscast, Vallo Vision News.

In the Summer of 2020, Carlee reached out to Michael Helms, better known as Helmsey, on the Rick and Bubba Show about becoming an intern for the Fall of 2020. Unfortunately, due to the Covid pandemic, the show was not taking any interns for the Fall of 2020 or Spring of 2021. So, in the Spring of 2021, Carlee would become a virtual intern for WRBL in Columbus, GA. During the Spring semester, she received a call back from Helmsey asking if she would be interested in an intern with the Rick and Bubba Show during the Summer. Carlee said, “I immediately told him yes because who would turn down the opportunity to work for THE Rick and Bubba Show.”

Carlee’s internship with the show started on June 1st. She will answer the phone and take care of the “Golden Ticket” seats when they start back in July. She went on-air on June 8th to get her famous “Rick and Bubba University” intern name. Carlee Loyd also known as “Pick’n and Cheer’n. The new nickname came about because of her talented cheerleading career, and she can play the banjo. “I love having to opportunity to be able to intern here and get to experience it. With this being in the field I went to college for, it makes it even more fun and enjoyable. I love the nickname they gave me. Some get crazy nicknames, but mine relates to things I have a strong love for! I can’t wait to be known as pick’n and cheer’n.” said Carlee.
