Trina Walker, Fairview Middle School Principal, was ecstatic when she received the news that her school was the recipient of a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse school not just once but twice. Fairview Middle is the first school in Cullman county to receive the honor.

In a letter to the school from Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, CEO Judith Fields said, “We are pleased to announce that Fairview Middle School has been named a two-time Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School in 2021. Based on the Blueprint for Excellence assessment process, your school has met the criteria for all nine categories. We are greatly honored to recognize such a deserving school working so diligently to fulfill the many learning needs of students.”

Walker said,” It is an honor for Fairview Middle School to be recognized for a second time. Without the staff, this wouldn’t be possible. Our teachers go above and beyond to provide every avenue possible to teach the kids, and I thank them for their continued willingness to be the best in the world.”

Designation as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School lasts for five years, at which time the school will be eligible for revalidation. Dr. Shane Barnette and his team have been blessed with excellent schools throughout Cullman County. “I am extremely proud of Fairview Middle School for this accomplishment. This is yet another example of the wonderful things that are happening at Fairview and across our school district.”, said Barnette.

Mrs. Walker will officially receive the Blue Ribbon award in December at an award banquet in Florida. Congratulations to the faculty and staff at Fairview Middle School!
