The Good Hope Raiders baseball team is looking toward leadership to help them improve during the 2021 baseball season. After the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID, the Raiders, led by Head Coach Mitch Witcher, is ready to hit the field at full speed. Witcher said, “We are expecting outstanding leadership from our seniors: Lane Speegle, Caleb Rusk, Travis Brock, Lawton Farr. We have a great junior class who has played a lot of baseball and are expecting to get great pitching performances by Lane Speegle, Caleb Rusk, Braxton Marshall, and Morgan Cook. The outfield will be patroled by Paydon Bagwell, Tyler Black, Lawton Farr, and Kody Estell. The Catching duties will be handled between Travis Brock and Paydon Bagwell. The Corners will be Landon Piper and Russ Wooten, and we are counting on Preston Seymore to play any position as a utility player. We are hoping to get newcomer Ethan Anderson after basketball season. This has been a fun group to be around. We hope to work hard and get better every day. We will only go as far as our leadership.”

Senior Lane Speegle is counting on the team’s leadership to win games and hopeful of making it deep into the playoffs after last year’s season was cut short. Speegle said, “Things are looking up for us this year. We only have three seniors, including me, and we all have figured out how to be leaders. Everyone on our team this year has been working hard, including coaches. I’m just looking forward to a whole season for us to come out and show how much we have improved.”

Good Luck to the Good Hope Raiders on their upcoming baseball season.
