The Vinemont Lady Eagles led by Coach Samantha Whisenant are eager to hit the field and get the power behind the bats swinging. Whisenant said, “This year will be my second year as the head softball coach for the Vinemont Eagles. I am blessed that God has allowed me to give back to my Alma Mater and coach these amazing young women. They mean the world to me. We have also been able to add some extra help to our coaching staff and even some new players to the team! The girls have been working very hard this year, and I couldn’t be more proud of them. I can’t wait to see what all they will accomplish this season!”
The Lady Eagle will take the field this Thursday, February 11th, to face off against the Cleveland Panthers from Blount County. Senior leader Mackenzie Lawrence can’t wait to hit the diamond. “I have an excellent feeling about this season. Even though we are young, we are smart and work hard every day. I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to play with my senior year. These girls’ dedication and hard work are going to pay off in years to come. As one of the team leaders, I see these young girls who are always watching you and looking up to you, and I think I used to be where they are. God has continued to bless me in my softball career, and I thank him every day for giving me the ability to play this sport.”
The Lady Eagles will start Region play on March 2nd when they travel to East Lawrence. The Region consists of Vinemont, East Lawrence, Danville, and Phil Campbell. With high hopes of finishing number one in the Region, the Lady Eagle wants to take the momentum from the season all the way to state.
