Thursday evening, a social media post traveled fast about a possible kidnapping of Mrs. Eller and her two minor children at the Dollar General Market in Hanceville. Cullman Daily broke the story this morning with a quote from Hanceville Assistant Police Chief, Adam Hadder, stating no report has been filed, and the Hanceville Police Department was not contacted about this incident. Mrs. Eller later came into the police department to officially file a report. Hanceville Investigators obtained video from Dollar General, police GPS, and telephone records, including Mrs. Ellers. It was determined that no Hanceville Police unit was ever in the parking lot, as Eller reported. A warrant was issued for False Report to Law Enforcement, and Eller has since turned herself into the Hanceville Police Department.

“Social Media posts are taken very seriously. Incidents like what happened last night and into today can cause widespread panic for the community and heartache on the police department,”  said Adam Hadder, Assistant Police Chief. “Hanceville Police Department takes all allegations seriously. It is unfortunate when we are spinning our wheels to find out the report was false.”
