Birmingham Police Department confirms an officer involved shooting in North Birmingham. A heavy police presence near Carver High School. The police officer has been taken to UAB.
According to a Birmingham Police Officer, the officer involved is going to be ok.
The officer received one to two gunshot wounds to the hand and arm but no life threatening injuries.
The suspect who opened fire was transported to UAB where they died due to the injuries.
