After recommendations from Alabama’s State School Superintendent, Eric Mackey, Gov. Kay Ivey announces during a press conference, all Alabama public schools will remain closed through the remainder of the school year due to the continued spread of CORVID-19.

Gov. Kay Ivey signed a supplemental emergency order to allow Dr. Mackey to provide alternate methods for instruction from home through the remainder of the school year starting April 6th.

Lt Gov. Will Ainsworth tweeted earlier today: “Dr Eric Mackey has done a good job of protecting our students and families. I recommended he shut down the schools when he did in March. This week I recommended to shut down the schools for the rest of the school year. This is serious situation and calls for serious measures.”
