On December 20th President Trump signed to make the legal age 21 to buy tobacco products. According to a representative from the FDA, this new requirement takes effect immediately. There has been a lot of confusion as to when the age changes and how it will be monitored.

Cullman Daily has contacted several local and corporate-owned stores over the last few days. Most of the corporate chain stores have moved the age to 21 while many locally owned stores are currently still at 19. No one we have spoken with locally has received any information from the state to make the change, while one local convenience store owner even said it’s extremely confusing that the FDA has one age but the state has not informed anyone of the change.

What are your thoughts on the legal age going from 19 to 21?
