According to reports, a UAB employee jumped from a parking deck and died around 3 PM today. The death is believed to be a suicide
It is believed that the man jumped from the top floor of the parking deck, which is 5-stories. Sgt Johnny Williams from Birmingham Police Department says they are not currently releasing the man’s identity and are not confirming his affiliation with UAB
UAB released this statement to their staff:
” It is with a heavy heart I share news of an employee suicide this afternoon. It occurred at the 6th Street parking deck and police are on the scene. Hospital Human Resources will share mental health resources with employees as appropriate. We have no further details at this time and police are working to notify the family.”
